This is a soundwalk i took at the monterey bay aquarium in central california from the outer bay exhibit through the wave tunnel (pausing for a single wave to crash) and then out the door and over to the balcony railing overlooking the ocean.

A field recording of small waves crashing on a sandy shore. Part of the recording includes the waves splashing against a wooden structure. The waves come a fast, regular intervals; this isn't the slow rolling crash of a barrel wave on the beach. There was a bit of wind (generating the waves) which i've did my best to minimize, but if you don't want wind in the recording you're going to need to edit around it. Always curious to see where these recordings wind up, so if you use it drop me a link in the comments if you think about it.

Medium sized waves recorded sitting on a groyn (no giggling - that's the name given for a construction of wood or rock going out perpendicular to the coast to avoid erosion or longshoredrift)from whence i could get the gurgling of the water as well as the crashing of the small waves and the sucking and pulling of the stones. Ocean waves at point reyes. Edited as a loop with no enhancement. Using a sony mz-rh1 minidisc recorder with unmodified panasonic wm-61 electret condenser microphone capsules. The left and right omnidirectional capsules are separately mounted in lavalier housings that allow independent placement when recording.
